According to a press release from Banca Transilvania, Costaș, Negru & Asociații (through attorney Dr. Cosmin Flavius Costaș) was part of the teams of lawyers and consultants of Banca Transilvania and Eurobank Ergasias that contributed to the successful completion of the litigation regarding the tax obligations of the former Bancpost (arising from a tax inspection report from 2018).
As successor in the rights and obligations of Bancpost, Banca Transilvania, supported by Eurobank Ergasias, contested the tax obligations in 2019. The litigation was finalized in 2025, after two procedural cycles in which solid arguments were put forward in support of the request to annul the tax inspection report and the tax decisions and extensive evidence was administered, justified by the particular complexity of the tax issues encountered.
The teams of lawyers and consultants also included (in alphabetical order): David & Baias (lawyer Dr. Dan Dascălu, lawyer Ana Maria Iordache); Deloitte Romania; PriceWaterhouseCoopers Romania (Diana Coroabă, Iulian Panfiloiu); Reff & Associates (lawyer Bogdan Mărculeț) and Schoenherr și Asociații (lawyer Dr. Bogdan Ioniță, lawyer Matei Florea).
Banca Transilvania and Eurobank Ergasias welcome the result achieved, also due to the professionalism of the lawyers and consultants who developed the argumentation in the judicial phase of the litigation. They also express their institutional satisfaction with the final decision of the tax courts, which overwhelmingly confirmed the correctness of Bancpost’s tax approach.
